EIT Urban Mobility

EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019 they have been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. They aim to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to € 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.

ICEX SPAIN TRADE AND INVESTMENT

ICEX Spain Trade and Investment is a public corporation at the national level aimed to promote the internationalisation of Spanish companies to support their competitiveness and add value to the economy, as well as attracting foreign investment to Spain. ICEX Spain Trade and Investment renders its services through a network of 31 Provincial and Regional Divisions in Spain along with almost 100 Economic and Trade Offices around the world. It also boasts 16 Business Centres worldwide, offering Spanish companies temporary infrastructure and acting as incubators for internationalisation. Every year, ICEX organizes around 1.200 promotional activities in foreign markets and answers over 90.000 queries on internationalization.

RED.ES

Red.es is a public corporate entity attached to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA). Its main areas include the empowerment of innovation and entrepreneurship; training young people and professionals, and the stimulation of the digital economy (with particular emphasis on SMEs digitalization) through an efficient and intensive use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Red.es also carries out technological implementation of digital public services for the Administration (especially in healthcare, justice and education) and the development of smart cities projects.

GOVERNMENT OF CATALONIA

SmartCAT is the strategy of the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya which extends the concept of Smart City to a country-wide level to carry out a program that integrates and coordinates local initiatives and supralocal, support companies and deploy Smart initiatives throughout the territory. SmartCAT aims to turn Catalonia into an “Smart Country” of international reference that takes advantage of the use of digital technology and information to innovate in public services, drive economic growth and promote a smarter, more sustainable and integrator.

BARCELONA PROVINCIAL COUNCIL

Diputació de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial Council) is a local public authority that provides technical, economic and technological support to the 311 municipalities in the province of Barcelona, fostering quality local services throughout the region. Its mission is to ensure progress and well-being for all the citizens in the territory by providing services to people, either directly or, above all, in cooperation with the municipalities themselves. To this end, Diputació de Barcelona is determined to become a Smart Region: a community of Smart Villages and Smart Cities in which technology and citizens are the main drivers of change to achieve social, environmental and economic development for all, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

AMB

The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) is the public administration of the metropolitan area of Barcelona, which occupies 636 km² and encompasses 36 municipalities with more than 3.2 million inhabitants. The metropolitan area is a territorial, social, demographic, economic and cultural entity formed during the last century as a product of the growth and connection of urban systems around the city of Barcelona. This is the largest metropolitan conurbation in the western Mediterranean, which generates half of the GDP in Catalonia. The new public metropolitan administration replaces the three entities existing until 2011: Union of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, Environmental Agency and Transport Metropolitan Agency. This new AMB rationalises and simplifies the metropolitan governance by creating a single administration.

EUROCITIES

EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities, with over 140 members across 39 countries, representing more than 130 million people. We work in all areas of interest for cities, from culture to mobility, environment to social affairs, economic development to smart cities. We facilitate learning experiences between cities, and represent cities’ interests towards the European Union. INTER-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (IDB)

The effects of rapid urban growth combined with the impact of climate change are creating new challenges for cities, which require better usage of information. To manage these challenges and deliver better urban services, cities need to better leverage technology, people and processes. IDB works to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean through financial and technical support for countries working to reduce poverty and inequality. It helps improve health and education, and advance infrastructure. As the leading source of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean, it conducts extensive research; provide loans, grants, and technical assistance. We are committed to achieving measurable results and the highest standards of increased integrity, transparency, accountability and sustainability.

METROPOLIS

Metropolis is the global network of major cities and metropolitan areas. Metropolis brings together the governments of 141 urban agglomerations worldwide. With over 35 years of history, today the association is the focal point of expertise on metropolitan governance. Raising the voices of metropolises to the global agenda and building capacity to deliver public policies and services, Metropolis contributes to finding common answers to the challenges of metropolisation. Metropolis operates, as well, as the metropolitan section of the World Organisation of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) since its constitution in 2004.

UCLG

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is the world organization of local and regional governments and their associations, representing and defending their interests on the world stage. UCLG’s network of members represents 70% of the world’s total population and is present in all world regions: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, the Middle East and West Asia, and North America; organized into 7 regional sections, 1 metropolitan section and 1 Forum of regions. This network includes over 240,000 towns, cities, regions and metropolises, and over 175 associations of local and regional governments in 140 countries. Among UCLG’s key areas of political interest are: local democracy, climate change and environmental protection, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, local finance, urban development and city diplomacy in peace building

UN-HABITAT

UN-Habitat is the United Nations programme working towards a better urban future. Its mission is to promote socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements development and the achievement of adequate shelter for all.


In October 2016, at the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development – Habitat III – member states signed the New Urban Agenda. This is an action-oriented document which sets global standards of achievement in sustainable urban development, rethinking the way we build, manage, and live in cities. Through drawing together cooperation with committed partners, relevant stakeholders, and urban actors, including at all levels of government as well as the private sector, UN-Habitat is applying its technical expertise, normative work and capacity development to implement the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goal 11 – to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

WORLD BANK

The World Bank Group has set two goals for the world to achieve by 2030:
1) End extreme poverty by decreasing the percentage of people living on less than $1.90 a day to no more than 3%, and
2) Promote shared prosperity by fostering the income growth of the bottom 40% for every country.
The World Bank Group comprises five institutions managed by their member countries. Established in 1944, the World Bank Group is headquartered in Washington, D.C. We have more than 10,000 employees in more than 120 offices worldwide. The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. We are not a bank in the ordinary sense but a unique partnership to reduce poverty and support development.

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM

The World Economic Forum is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. It was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests. The Forum strives in all its efforts to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does.

FNP - FRENTE NACIONAL DE PREFEITOS

Founded in 1989, the Brazilian Association of Mayors (FNP) is the only municipal entity directed exclusively by mayors in exercise of their mandates, composed by 400 municipalities with more than 80,000 inhabitants. This number covers 100% of the capitals, 60% of the inhabitants and 75% of the country’s GDP.
Among the activities of FNP is the organization of national and international events. We highlight the Municipal Meeting with Sustainable Development (EMDS), the largest local sustainable development event held in Latin America. Promoted by FNP in partnership with national and international organizations, it welcomes about 10000 people (+500 mayors) each edition. The 5th EMDS will happen in Brasilia – 26th to 28th August 2019.

MERCOCIUDADES

Mercociudades is the main Network of the South American local governments and an outstanding reference in the integration processes. It is conformed by 300 cities in 10 countries, where over 120 million people live. Mercociudades was founded in 1995 on the initiative of the main mayors of the region with the aim of promoting regional integration and the creation of an institutional scope for cities within the Mercosur. Mercociudades works to strengthen the exchange and horizontal cooperation between the cities of the region, inspired by a different kind of regional integration, respectful of diversity and with a vocation to build borderless participatory citizenship.

OASC

Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) is a non-profit, international network of smart cities & communities. Together with our international member cities and partner organisations, and based on our core values – openness, agility, and cooperation – OASC is building the foundation for a global market where digital services can scale sustainably.
As the largest network for smart cities and communities, OASC creates sustainable impact for our member cities by working towards a common technical ground which allows scaling and sharing of urban digital services based on open standards, open APIs, and shared data models. We call this common technical ground Minimal Interoperability Mechanisms.

OSGP ALLIANCE

The OSGP Alliance is the global non-profit association dedicated to promoting the adoption of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and infrastructure for smart grid applications towards a future proof modern smart grid. With a key focus on security, smart metering, smart grid, grid analytics, distribution network management and smart cities our members, including utilities, hardware manufacturers, service providers and system integrators, all share a common goal and vision: promoting open standards for energy demand side management, smart grid and smart metering systems.

UfM - UNION FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is the only Euro-Mediterranean intergovernmental organisation bringing together the countries of the European Union and 15 countries from the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. The UfM provides a forum for strengthening regional cooperation, dialogue and the implementation of concrete projects and initiatives that have a tangible impact on the citizens, especially on young people, in order to meet the region’s three strategic objectives: stability, human development and integration. 2020 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Barcelona Process, which laid the foundations for the creation of the UfM

WEGO

The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) is an international association of city and other local governments, smart tech solutions providers, and national and regional institutions committed to the transformation of cities into smart sustainable cities.
WeGO’s Secretariat is based in Seoul, Korea, with regional offices in East Asia (Chengdu, China), Eurasia (Ulyanovsk, Russia), the Mediterranean (Beyoğlu, Turkey), and Latin America (Mexico City, Mexico).
WeGO has 170+ members around the world and serves as their international platform to improve the quality of life, innovate in the delivery of public services, and strengthen regional competitiveness.

ACFM

Associació Catalana de Facility Management (ACFM) is a non-profit Association, its purpose is to bring together individuals, legal entities and entities, as well as professional, sectoral or academic groups, which within their actions offer, promote or develop activities related to Facility Management (FM) in Catalonia

ACR+

ACR+ is an international network of cities and regions sharing the aim of promoting a sustainable resource management and accelerating the transition towards a circular economy on their territories and beyond. Circular economy calling for cooperation between all actors, ACR+ is open to other players in the field of material resource management (NGOs, academic institutions, consultancy or private organisations). For already 25 years, ACR+ facilitates the exchange of experiences between members while also sharing technical and policy information. To strengthen the knowledge and capacities of the network and push forward innovation in the field of material resource management, ACR+ is also involved in several projects at European level and in the Mediterranean region, in cooperation with its members.

AEBALL

The Business Association of L’Hospitalet and Baix Llobregat (AEBALL in Spanish) is a non-profit business organization that was born in 1984 in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. It is the business association for representation, management, defense, coordination and promotion of the professional interests of companies that carry out general economic activities in their different sectors: industrial, commercial and services, within the territorial scope of L’Hospitalet and Baix Llobregat, a territory in constant economic and social growth.

Its operation is autonomous and independent of any entity, organization, public administration, political party… And it is governed by democratically elected governing bodies every four years, and by a collaborating staff who executes the established guidelines. AEBALL is non-profit making and is made up of freely associated companies and entities that may be individual, collective (unions or lower-level employer entities) or collaborators.

AEDIVE

AEDIVE is the Iberian EV cluster, an association with more than 150 companies which gathers the industrial, technological and services value chain of e-Mobility in Spain and Portugal. AEDIVE is the representative of AVERE, the European EV Association, for the Iberian market and is also a member of Platform for Electromobility and the ICT Interoperability Innovation Group eMI3. In Latinamerica, AEDIVE has a strong presence and activity in several countries and has a partnership with Latam Mobility.

AEICE - CLÚSTER HABITAT EFICIENTE

AEICE is a private non-profit association whose mission is to develop our members’ competitiveness through innovation, collaboration, training, internationalisation and communication using tools based on their economic and social development and that of our environment and territories.

BREKO

The leading German Broadband Association (BREKO) represents more than 190 fixed broadband network operators in Germany. BREKO members are responsible for the roll-out of future-proof fibre infrastructure and currently account for more than 80% of the competitive FTTB/H deployment. With annual investments of approximately €2.5 billion in 2018, BREKO plays a significant role in the effort to create an inclusive European gigabit society that builds on fast fibre networks to all buildings. This drive has allowed BREKO businesses to establish 5 million FTTB/H connection throughout Germany.

The German Fibre Association provides its members with political and regulatory expert knowledge and operates at all levels, linking federal state, national and EU policy closely together to strengthen competition on the telecommunications market.

CAMINS.CAT

Col.legi de l’Enginyeria de Camins, Canals i Ports de Cataluña is the professional reference in the field of civil and environmental engineering in Catalonia; leads urban planning as a scientific discipline and has a tight commitment with the climate emergency through SDGs. It is made up of about 3,000 members out of 30,000 members throughout Spain.

CARA - European Cluster for Mobility Solutions

CARA, French cluster based in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, comprises over 230 members, including manufacturers, transport operators, universities, research and education centers. CARA is associate member and representative of the PFA Automotive Industry and Mobilities.
CARA is an association aiming to be the leading French cluster in Europe addressing the global challenges of urban mobility and vehicles of tomorrow, that fulfills two missions:
– Represent 6 sectors: automotive, industrial vehicles, rail transport, cable-supported transport systems, river transport, bicycle
– Support the transformation of passengers and goods transport systems in urban environments.
From the drawing board through to market launch, CARA implements collective actions: research and innovation projects, pilots in real life situation, and measures for the economic and industrial development of its members.

The Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) is an entity that, through collaboration with companies and associated organizations from areas such as technology, research, institutional, regulatory, industrial, informative and business, has the aim of promoting the field of energy efficiency.

CITET Innovation Cluster for Sustainable Freight Delivery

We are an innovative business organization in which we promote and facilitate technological innovation in logistics and transportation. Aimed at promoting transversal innovation projects and initiatives, supporting entrepreneurship projects, putting supply and demand in contact, and carrying out the dissemination and transfer of technological and environmental knowledge.

CITYNET

CityNet is the largest association of urban stakeholders committed to sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1987 with the support of UNESCAP, UNDP, and UN-Habitat, the network of cities has grown to include 173 municipalities, NGOs, private companies, and research centres. We connect actors, exchange knowledge, and build commitment to establish more sustainable and resilient cities. Through capacity building, city-to-city cooperation, and tangible projects, we help our members respond to climate change, disaster, rising infrastructure demands, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

CVTA

The Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA) is a non-profit business league established to facilitate the interaction, and advance the interests, of the entities involved in the vehicle communication environment. The Connected Vehicle Trade Association enables the collaboration of companies, organizations, and governmental bodies engaged in developing bidirectional vehicle communications. Membership is open to any corporation, public entities, standards and specification organizations and educational institutions.

EARPA

Bringing together the most prominent independent R&D providers in the automotive sector throughout Europe, EARPA is the association of automotive R&D organisations since 2002. Its membership counts at present 49 members ranging from large and small commercial organisations to national institutes and universities. EARPA is a high-quality platform of automotive researchers and is actively contributing to the European Research Area and the future EU RTD funding programmes. The Association works in close cooperation with the automotive industry, the automotive suppliers as well as the European Institutions and the EU Member States. Foremost, EARPA is independent from any external body or institute, only supported by its members’ fees and is governed by an Executive Board and General Assembly.

EUROTOWNS

Eurotowns was established in 1991 as the Europe-wide network for towns and cities with populations between 50,000 and 250,000. Towns and cities of this size play a significant part in the economic and social life of Europe. The Eurotowns network aims to ensure that this fact is properly reflected in the development of European legislation and promotes the interests of medium-sized cities at European level. There are currently 18 cities in membership of Eurotowns. The network supports medium-sized cities in Europe to strengthen their role as attractive, inclusive and sustainable places. Furthermore, Eurotowns provides a valuable mechanism for building reliable partnerships, developing innovative and sustainable projects, and effective collaboration on European Union funding applications.

EUROXR ASSOCIATION

EuroXR –European Association for Extended Reality gathers individuals, large companies, SMEs, as well as research institutions, universities, and laboratories. EuroXR has been operating on the European territory for more than 10 years, providing a solid International Network for all those interested in Extended reality and new technologies (VR/AR/MR). EuroXR’s mission is to promote research excellence and stimulate the development and deployment of XR technologies in existing, new and emerging fields. The Association provides also different kinds of services, such as white paper, consultancy for new projects and project management; opportunities for collaboration in European and International projects; and organization and support of XR-related events.

FECEMINTE

FECEMINTE (Federació Catalana d’Empreses de Telecomunicacions) is a non-profit business association, formed by companies in the field of the telecoms (systems integrators and installers, telecom operators, hard and soft manufacturers and wholesalers, etc.… ) that provide their services in the territorial area of Catalonia. Since his constitution in 1968 its aim is to provide value to its associates and to the sector in general, being an institutional interlocutor with the Administration and other economic, social and technological agents.

FORÉTICA

Forética is the leading business network on sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain and Latin America, with over 250 members. Our mission is to encourage the integration of social, environmental and good governance aspects in corporate and organisational strategy and management. Forética is Spain’s only representative of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and National Partner Organization of CSR Europe and in Spain.

IAAC - Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a centre for research, education, production and outreach, with the mission of envisioning the future habitat of our society and building it in the present.

SMACCs

The 2 academic years (120 ECTS) of the programme are designed to educate the next generation of engineers and researchers in Smart Cities and Communities by bringing together four of Europe’s most prestigious universities in collaboration with industry. Students will acquire valuable skills and benefit from state-of-the-art research at regional and transnational level, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, employability, knowledge exchange and multidisciplinary learning. Students will complete their master in Spain, Greece, Belgium or the U.K., depending on the chosen study path.

UCCLA

The Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA) is an international association of inter-municipal scope that aims to strengthen the cooperation among cities, fostering economic, social and cultural development, and to promote the common cultural heritage that represents the world of the Portuguese language.

On June 28, 1985, eight cities signed a twinning protocol, designing the association creation, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, China, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe.
